Holiday Eatings

Hello there and happy New Year!

The holidays are over! How was yours? I hope it was a good one.

Some of our students have asked me what I ate for Christmas dinner, and whether or not it was a traditional Christmas meal.

Well, we actually had a pretty traditional dinner. Instead of turkey, which is hard to get in Japan, we had roast chicken with stuffing, pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon) roast vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy.

The meat, stuffing and gravy came from British restaurant Swan and Lion in Tokyo, and it was delivered frozen. Reheating the food was easy, and it tasted great. The Yorkshire puddings were made by me, following my mother’s recipe. The vegetables were boiled, and then roasted in the oven. Take a look:

After that, we were pretty full! But we did have some Christmas puddings the next day (Boxing Day). They were simple, microwaved versions, following an amalgamation of recipes I found online. We ate them with ice cream. Very tasty!

We also ate some delicious mince pies (also from Swan and Lion) over the Christmas period:

Christmas time is full of delicious food, don't you think? I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Anyway, thanks for reading this blog. See you next time!
