A few weeks ago, one of our students dropped by and gave us some magazines that feature articles about British life and culture. Thank you very much for that!
I used to read magazines as a teenager, but I’m so used to consuming information from a screen these days that I had forgotten how relaxing it was to browse through a magazine. So I decided that I should read some magazines from time to time as a way to relax that doesn’t involve staring at an LCD screen.
I’m interested in space and history, so I decided on the BBC Sky at Night and BBC History magazines. Unfortunately, when I went to the book store, they had neither of those. Luckily, they had a magazine called Sky and Telescope, which looked interesting, and a magazine called National Geographic History, which I had heard of before.
I got the two magazines and have been reading them at home since. Relaxing, educational and a feeling of nostalgia!
I haven’t given up on the BBC magazines, but I might have to import them from the UK myself.
Do you read magazines? Why do you read them? Is it to learn about new things or purely just to unwind?
